Weatherize. Save Thousands. Create Jobs.

Please allow us help you save money and energy while creating jobs.

The average Maine household spends $3,379 on energy bills a year. Money provided by the Efficiency Maine Trust (by way of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act) is helping Maine homeowners to weatherize and save.

As part of our New Energy Jobs Alliance, we are working hard to connect people with this great opportunity to get up to $5,500 in cash rebates and tax credits for home improvements that cut your home’s energy bills by 25% – 50% and help put local people to work.

It’s easy. Here is how it works:

  1. ASSESS. Have a nationally-certified energy advisor evaluate how your home uses energy and which improvements will save you the most money. (See a list of advisors here.)
  2. PRIORITIZE. Review the home energy assessment report with your advisor to choose the improvements that meet your goals. Then you need to reserve your rebate by filing an Incentive Application Form with Efficiency Maine Trust before work starts.
  3. IMPROVE. Hire a contractor to install the improvements. Once that’s done (usually 3-10 days), you’ll have your energy advisor return to test your home to make sure you’re getting the savings you expect.

SAVE:

  • EFFICIENCY MAINE TRUST CASH REBATES are available up to $3,000. There are also rebates for appliances & solar systems
  • FEDERAL TAX CREDITS are available in the form of credit for 30% of the cost of materials (up to $1,500)
  • EVERYDAY ENERGY SAVINGS follow! You’ll start saving every day — $1,000 per year for 30% efficiency improvement in an average home.
